Some friendships are formed through competition, forged like the medals won through sheer will and comradery. Our collaboration with Original 40 Brewing Company in San Diego is the perfect example of this phenomenon.

At last year's Great American Beer Festival, two barrel aged stouts rose above the rest to take Gold and Silver: our Barrel Aged Kamoho clinching the win, and Original 40's Magnetic Ribbon: Final Cut close behind in second.

Rather than meeting outside to duke it out, we came together, swapped recipes, and flipped the script by brewing each other's beer.

On Friday, May 29, we're releasing our version of their beer:

Magnetic Medium: New Cut, an 18-month Barrel Aged Stout brewed with Coconut, Vanilla, Cocoa Nibs, Almonds, and for even more authenticity to the original, Coffee by the same San Diego roasters, Cozy Canine's Muddy Paws Dark Roast.

On tap at noon and all weekend, with .500ml bottles dropping as well. No limit, $30 each. Distro TBD, so don't believe anyone claiming they're selling it. ;)
