Ruck to Remember – Honoring Our Heroes, Supporting Our Vets

Join us this Memorial Day weekend for Ruck to Remember, a 3.5-mile ruck march hosted by Rebellion Kettlebell Gym and Riverlands Brewing Co. This event is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom—and raising funds to support those who served.

Each year we partner with a veteran charity and all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated.

What to Expect:
- A 3.5-mile ruck march to the beautiful Fox River and through downtown St. Charles.
- Choose your own weight — whether it's a light daypack or something heavier, this event is not hardcore; it's about community, remembrance, and support.
- All fitness levels welcome!
- Start and finish at Riverlands Brewing Co. — stick around afterward for brews, food by the TamalesPlus Tamale Trolley, and great conversation.
- Bring: a backpack (aka your “ruck”), comfortable walking shoes, and your support for our veterans. - Rain or shine, we walk together.

Whether you're a seasoned rucker or joining for the first time, this is a meaningful way to move with purpose, reflect, and give back.

If you know our brewery, you know we love both Star Wars and LEGO®...so we just HAVE TO celebrate May the 4th with a big ol' costume party and build-a-palooza.

Show up decked out in your favorite SW character to help us celebrate Star Wars Day in style!

This family-friendly event is a perfect way to merge play with a good cause as we help Bricks of Hope continue their mission: creating play and inspiring imagination in sick kids by delivering LEGO® to them during their hospital stays.

A donation of at least one LEGO® set per participant is all we ask for entry, and this year, we highly encourage Star Wars sets to fit our theme! (Of course, we'll accept any and all sets, as well!)

We'll have PILES of LEGO® around the taproom for kids (and parents!) to build, play, and create with. We ask that parents supervise their kids' play at all times to make sure everyone has a safe and friend-buildingly good time as well.

Brew Town Bites will be serving up a family-friendly menu with stuff that both adults and kiddos will enjoy. Stay tuned for the full menu by hitting the GOING button.

On Sunday, November 10, the United States Marine Corps turns 249, and we're throwing a banger of a party to celebrate and raise funds to help vets struggling with PTSD and other emotional distress.

As many of you know, our own Assistant Brewer, Nick Fonte, is a veteran of the Marine Corps, and we're honored to help raise funds for a fantastic organization that takes direct action to help our veterans.

Doors open at noon and the party runs all afternoon until 5pm.

ABOUT THE CHARITY
Guitars for Vets (G4V) is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We currently operate over 100 chapters in over 40 states. Over the years, we have refined a guitar lesson program that provides Veterans struggling with PTSD and other emotional distress a unique therapeutic alternative. Our program is primarily run by volunteers working at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, community based medical centers, Vet Centers, and Veterans service organizations.

We put the healing power of music in the hands of heroes. Through our work, we help restore feelings of joy and purpose that Veterans can lose after suffering traumatic experiences and help Veterans productively reintegrate into their communities.

To date, G4V has administered over 40,000 guitar lessons and distributed over 4,000 guitars to Veterans. Over the years, we have observed the many ways that our program is enriching the lives of Veterans suffering with mental, physical and emotional distress. Veterans participating in our program have reported better social interactions, the substitution of music for medication, an improved ability at work and greater feelings of personal independence.

Join us on Sunday, September 22nd, from 12pm to 6pm as we host an incredible afternoon of brews, food, live music, and fun to raise funds for Big Hearts of the Fox Valley.

ABOUT BIG HEARTS:

Big Hearts was created in 2004 by the Mobley family as a way to “give back” to their community. It grew quickly, and Big Hearts of Fox Valley NFP was formalized in March 2019 as a 501(c)(3). "When we opened Excel Auto Shop in 2014, we knew we wanted to find a way to give back to our community. As we looked under our Christmas tree to see all the presents our children would be getting, we thought about all the little ones that wouldn’t be opening presents on Christmas morning.

"We decided to reach out to our children’s elementary school social worker to see if there were any families that may need some assistance providing Christmas gifts to their kids. Plank Road Tap Room (39W149 Plank Rd, Elgin, IL 60124) will be hosting Putts n Pints second fundraising event, the Plank Road Open!
In accordance with the venue's policy, this event will strictly be for ages 21+.

We will be setting up a short 9-hole temp course using one of the trails on the property. This will be an Ace Race-style event!
Scoring will be as follows:
5 points for an ace
3 points for hitting metal off the tee
1 Point if you miss the basket but make your putt

If you do not make your putt, pick up your disc and move to the next hole.

Your entry fee covers two 9-hole rounds, a complimentary can of Kayak Pils from Riverlands, a coozie to put it in, and one raffle ticket.

There will also be raffle tickets for sale on site at the event. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Fox River, a non-profit environmental organization that works to protect our local waterway and it's ecosystems. A member of the Friends of the Fox will be on site with a table set up for more information about the organization, along with a donation box and sign-up sheet for river cleanup volunteers.

Tee times will be used due to limited parking. We STRONGLY encourage signing up with friends and carpooling to ensure that everyone is able to have a smooth experience. The tee time that you sign up for indicates when your first round starts. Your second round will begin no more than an hour after your first.

River Rascals...MOUNT UP! We're looking for volunteers who LOVE our local waterway, the Fox River!

Join us Saturday, Sept 17, as part of the It's Our Fox River Day celebration organized by Friends of the Fox River.

Hundreds of volunteers up and down the river are joining forces for a day of cleanups and camaraderie.

Here's the plan:

- Meet at our St. Charles brewery in St. Charles at 9am to pick up gear and get your location assignments
- NOTE: you'll want to wear BOOTS or OLD SHOES, LONG PANTS, LONG SLEEVES, WORK GLOVES, BUG SPRAY, SUNSCREEN!
- Return to the brewery at 11am to celebrate with fresh beers and more!
- Special tapping of Buried Hatchets Imperial Stout with toasted coconut, bananas, and chocolate, which a portion of the profits going to Friends of the Fox!
- Stick around for our Oktoberfest celebration starting at noon!

The mission of the Friends of the Fox River is to preserve, restore and protect the Fox River Watershed’s resources by connecting people with nature through education, research, restoration and advocacy.

Friends of the Fox River is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of citizens and organizations taking action to protect and maintain the quality of the Fox River and its tributaries. Through our programs and activities, we encourage both adults and students to become involved in protecting the river and its watershed. ILLINOIS CRAFT BEER WEEK is BACK, and we're celebrating with a day long patio party featuring a pup adoption event, live tunes, BIG burgers, and more.

From 3 to 6pm, Rescued Rascals will be on site with pups looking for good homes! We ask that you if you bring your own pups that day that you be cautious around the rescues.

At 4pm, the ONE & ONLY Biker Dude fires up the blackstone for smashburger paradise! You know the drill...line up early if you plan to eat! He WILL sell out.

At 6pm, Pete Jive plays a fantastic live set. If you haven't seen him yet and you love music, don't miss this!

On Saturday, March 12, join us for our second annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser and head shaving event!

Last year, we hosted our first head shaving fundraiser at our brewery in St. Charles with AMAZING success. This year, we hope to blow the results out of the water!

Project Mobility is hosting our 5th annual 5K beer run. Hops for Hope 5K is a twist on the traditional 5K! The event is timed and the course is certified, whether you are a serious runner or walker who loves beer, this event is for you. We have 4 different options this year; In-Person 5K with Beer Stops, In-Person 5K with No Beer Stops, Virtual 5K and Awards Ceremony Only.

The In-Person 5K will start at the beautiful Mount Saint Mary Park in St. Charles and head towards Geneva on the scenic path through Wheeler Park and ends back at Mount Saint Mary Park for the Award Ceremony!

Proceeds benefit Project Mobility's mission to bring adaptive cycling opportunities to the lives of children, adults, and wounded service members with emotional and physical challenges.

THAT'S A WEIRD TWIST?! We think you mean delicious and fun! Throughout the 5K there will be 6 Refueling Stations (Beer Stops) featuring local craft breweries handing out 3-ounce beer samples to runners.

The Award Ceremony will feature a live band, more beer, food and Adaptive Bike Giveaway Presentation.

*All runners must be 21 years or older and show a valid ID day of the race.

**We will be following all CDC/local guidelines relating to COVID. Keeping participants safe is our number one priority.

Join us on Saturday, September 25th in support of a group close to our hearts: Support Over Stigma.

Support Over Stigma raises awareness and funds to help provide PTSD assistance for Active Duty Military, Veterans, First Responders, and their families.
